Dr. Maureen Spranza

Maureen Spranza has over 35 years experience teaching instruments such as saxophone, flute, clarinet, piano, trumpet, trombone and violin.  Music teachers that she has studied with include Anthony Braxton, Herb Pomeroy, Charlie Banacos, Jerry Bergonzi, Gary Burton, Joe Viola, Ken Pullig, John LaPorta, Hal Crook , James Newton and Ken Radnofsky . She has a PhD in Education from Capella University, a Clear Single Subject Music Teaching Credential from Chapman University, a Master of Fine Arts degree in Electronic Music and Recording Media with an emphasis in Composition from Mills College and a Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz Composition and Arranging  from Berklee College of Music. She has performed with musicians such as Vijay Iyer, Anthony Braxton, MC Hammer, Luciana Souza, Lloyd Nibbs and the Skatalites (Bob Marley and Peter Tosh), Fred Lonberg-Holm, Andy Borger (Norah Jones), Stuart Popejoy, Aaron Stewart, Sheila Sofian, William Calhoun (Living Color), Sean Kennerly (Samiam) and Joey Cheezhee.
